Tired mind, tired body

September 3, 2010

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking in the past few days about things related to my future. Honestly, I have no idea what I want in my life right now at the moment. In 3 months time, I’ll be leaving Australia and fly back home. I’m clueless if I should find a job here in Australia or if I should just go home and find a job instead. I’m not sure if I should continue on with my masters. If yes..I’m not sure if I should do it in Australia or in Malaysia as well.

There are so many ‘what if’ and ‘maybe’ which I can never answer all of them. I’m leaving everything into God’s hand and I’m praying that He’ll lead me and open up doors for me. Till now, I have not heard a single thing from Him but I guess in His timing, His plans for my life will be revealed, step by step. All I know is that, God is never late nor early; He’s always on time (:

Putting things aside, I recently found myself an old film camera, a nikon FE2. Shooting in film is really fun! You have no clue at all on what you are shooting. Unlike digital cameras, you don’t get to preview the picture you have taken with a film camera. You just have to go by feeling and really, put more thoughts into your composition. I’ve just develope my first roll of film. I’m still in a ‘try try’ stage..so pictures aren’t exactly that fantastic. Everything was shot with Fujifilm Superia 200 film..and..no editing at all!! You gotta love the colour tone from film!

Summer, Autumn, Winter..Spring

September 1, 2010

The first day of spring officially starts today. It started off great with dark skies and rain drops onto my window. It’s getting warmer by the day, the wind is getting stronger each day, flies begin to appear, and work load seems to be lesser right now.

I know I’ve been absent for a month. Ever since the semester had begun, I’ve been camping in the architecture building all day and night. Well, I’ve just submitted an assignment yesterday and that would be the last major assignment due till the end of my semester! It’s quite funny how the work load for this semester have been spread out..but oh well..I’ve endured through. Counting down to 8 more weeks till the end of the semester..and perhaps 3-4weeks of studying and going for exams! I need to book my flight home (:

What was your best $10 you have ever spent on?

A Jaysjays top? A pair of shoes from Aldo during sales? A Hungry Jacks meal which includes a burger, a sundae cup, fries and drink? 10 packets of Kinder Bueno chocolates during a 99cents for one promotion? A movie ticket to watch Inception(well this could be a well spent $10! )?

Well, today I’ve discovered the best $10 I’ve ever spent on!

Guys..presenting to you all, Andrews Hamburgers! This is probably, I would say, the best burger I’ve ever tasted in my whole entire life! I know, I know. In your mind right now, most of you guys would say “Hey you haven’t try this other burger place before!” or “Are you sure it isn’t overated?”. It’s pretty much like a scene in ‘How I Met Your Mother’ series, where Marshall claimed to had the best burger in New York city, but he couldn’t remember where was the place. His friends didn’t believe him and hence, the search for the best burger in that particular series.

For $10, you’ll get to taste the best burger I have ever tasted! I ordered the ‘Steak Lot’, which has a piece of steak in the burger, along with bacon, egg, caramelised onions, and salad. I waited for 40 minutes to taste this beast, and the wait was worth it!

I don’t normally claim something to be really true without any evidence or proof. See the picture above? Those are the faces of ‘The best $10 I’ve ever spent!’

I mean seriously, most burgers I’ve ever tasted, they are good because of the combination of the sauces. The burgers in this place is really different! Meat lovers will seriously love this burger cause the taste comes from the meat itself.

Picture this – a marinated piece of steak being grilled to perfection. The steak has bits of fats which brings out the flavour of the entire piece of meat. Each bite, you’ll get a tiny resistance from the fats, which adds texture to the entire meal. A strip of bacon dressed at the top, sandwiched in between the piece of meat and a layer of caramelised onions. A perfect circle egg sits at the top of the entire kingdom, unifying the flavours all together. Below the piece of meat, you have thinly sliced cucumbers and grilled tomatoes which bring extra juices into each bite.

Honestly, words and pictures from me isn’t enough to justify how awesome this burger is. You guys have to try it for yourself. Take tram number 1, heading to South Beach from Flinders Station and stop at Tram Stop 28. It’s just right around the corner and you wont miss it!

An interesting portrait

July 26, 2010

I took an interesting portrait shot of an aboriginal Australian while I was in Blue Mountain, few hours drive from Sydney. He was playing the ‘didjeridu’, which is an instrument that the aboriginals invented.

Well, I wanted a portrait of him with his instrument but it was quite challenging to get a well exposed picture of him as he was facing his face away from the sun. As seen in the picture below, the skin tone of the subjects are a little underexposed although the overall picture seems well exposed.

So what I did was I’d to reposition myself to a different angle where I don’t get too much sunlight directly into my lens. To brighten up the face, I had my SB900 flash fired at 1/2 of the power from the right side of the frame by using a wireless trigger. I set my aperture to around F9 to control the exposure of the light on the subjects.

I know I have a dirty sensor. You can see an obvious dot on my picture. I have already clean it and it’s something that photographers should pay attention to. You wouldn’t want your clients to see dots on their face (:

Hello second term!

July 23, 2010

My second term in Melbourne University started today. I’m really so glad that classes will resume next week because time will just fly by when the semester starts. I really can’t wait to graduate end of this year and get back home to Malaysia!

Haha anyway here’s another shot from a photoshoot I did last week (:
