Jens & Nalis Wedding Dinner

December 31, 2009

Today marks the end of the year 2009. I realised too it’s the end of this decade. A lot of things occur to me this year and it is indeed a memorable year for me. I’ll blog about my 2009 some other time, maybe tomorrow.

As for now, let me share with you guys some exciting pictures. This is the second part of Jens and Nalis wedding! If you guys missed out my earlier post, here it is http://danselphotography.com/jens-nalis-nikah-ceremony/.

The wedding dinner was a few days after their nikah ceremony. It was held at their residential area and the place is simply gorgeous! On one hand, their wedding was a traditional ceremony and on the other hand, the dinner was a western style. Not gonna say much rite now. Not quite in a talking/typing mood. Just wanna share these series of pictures, so enjoy it!

I took this shot cause I find it very interesting. 2 clocks in the same space, both showing different time. One Malaysian time, one German time.

The entrance. If you guys remembered also my previous post http://danselphotography.com/lesson-learnt/, we were setting up this scene for an hour. This was the end results. Not too good though. Kenny had a better shot of this. Good job mate!

That’s all for now. More photoshoots coming up next month. Starting from Feb till November, I’ll be taking a break from all photoshoots that are in Malaysia cause I’ll be flying off to Melb for my degree but I am available to take photos in Australia during that period.

Time for half boiled eggs. Happy New Year people!

Feeding The Homeless

December 28, 2009

While some people spent their Christmas season on holidays, some on camps, and some even at home, I spent mine at Grace Community Service Centre that fed 300 homeless people in their Christmas celebration.

I was asked by Jon and Andrew to tag along their magic performances for the homeless people. They didn’t get paid. I didn’t get paid. It was all for community services.

Talk about community services, I personally think that the Grace Community Service Centre has done a tremendous job in reaching and making an impact in the community. From what I’ve heard, every week volunteers will avail themselves to feed the homeless in the centre. Forget about all the once-a-year community service that other churches do during the Christmas season. Making an impact in people’s life in a once-a-year deed won’t do anything. I really respect the energy that the volunteers have in the community centre. I compared myself with them and I realised that I’m nothing more than a ‘talk without a walk’ sorta person. These people can truly say ‘Loving God, loving people!’

It’s really an eye opener for me. Never once in my life have I ever gone to such occasion. I went for home visiting to the poor families during Christmas but it’s nothing compared to this! All of these homeless people have in some way been nurtured in Biblical ways. Week in, week out, the volunteers hand out food while sharing with them the gospel!

So once a year, they have the feeding program a big occasion to celebrate Christmas! When I walked into the place, a strong aroma filled the air..nasi briyani! I really wanted to be fed to by the feeding program. The food smelled soooo good. The event started off with the sharing of the gospel. The preacher was really amazing. He shares in English and later on translate his words into BM and Cantonese!

Right after that, they started distributing the food to the homeless people. It was jam packed.

While the homeless ate, Jon and his magic friends from the Magic Annexe performed close-up magics to them. It was a real treat for them, really!

Around 5.30pm, they took on the main stage and amazed everyone there, including myself =)

This is Kenoph Lai (Cannot Fly). He’s really very skillful, probably the most skillful one among them (so they say). Besides being a hilarious person, he’s actually a medical student. It’s hard to believe rite?

Andrew brought the house down with his birds birds acts! Hahaha some of them even asked him “Are those birds real?”

I didn’t take many good shots on that day. It was hard to move about to snap pictures as it was darn crowded but I would love to go for more community services to capture down the moments. I hope that the pictures are enough to let you guys be aware that the world isn’t just this beautiful. Get out from your comfort zone, walk down to that back lane, watch and hear for yourself the cries of those in need. You can make the difference =)

How was Christmas for all you guys? Good? Bad? Normal? Boring?

My Christmas this year was just alright. Not too bad I would say. This year, my church had a Christmas musical done by the kids. I was the official photographer for the musical. I can’t help not to take pictures of little kids. I really weally love kids a lot! If you guys remember one of my previous post in http://danselphotography.com/children-church-kids/ , I photographed their practice sessions as well.

But photographing them on stage is totally different and it’s much more interesting! The lightings were colourful and more challenging. Sometimes it’s too bright and sometimes it’s too dark. I had to adjust my white balance and my settings a lot.

The day started off with Reuben leading the congregation with a few Christmas tunes. I was playing guitar too on that day so I brought my camera along with me up on stage. =D

Then Sher introduced the play to the crowd.

The next few pictures are pictures from the musical play. Enjoy! =)

Jens & Nalis Nikah Ceremony

December 25, 2009

Merry Christmas peeps!

Once again, it’s the time of the year where we celebrate Christmas. To some who don’t know what Christmas is all about, Christmas isn’t about Santa or Christmas tress or gifts or snowmen. Christmas is all about a King who was born about 2000 years ago named Jesus! Have a blessed Christmas and good tidings to all!

Since it’s Christmas, let me share with you guys a photoshoot that I did last month with KECH DESIGN.STUDIO. I had the privilege of shooting a Malay wedding ceremony. From the make-up session to the adat nikah ceremony at the mosque, it was indeed an experience shooting something that is so alien to me.

The shoot was really fun. When we first met Nalis, I kinda felt that it’s gonna be a fun photoshoot. She explained through to us the details of the wedding and I had so many ideas in my mind! This is part one of their wedding. Do enjoy the series of pictures. Leave a note if you love them! =)

I walk in to the room and quickly grab out my camera to snap this shot. The amount of light that entered the room was just nice to create this picture!

Appreciation

December 23, 2009

It always feels good when people appreciates your photos. Just today itself I had two phone calls and an sms from my previous clients expressing their appreciation towards my photos. In one of the sms, it says

My friend, I just looked through all the pictures and the album. You guys have done a tremendous job. Thank you so much. I will recommend you wherever I can. It was also fun working with you.

Thanks for the calls and sms. It made my day better, and made my Christmas something more meaningful this year!

On the other hand, this is my new desktop background =)
